Consumer unit upgrades

A new board starts with checks

That row of switches needs more than tidy labels; the existing circuits get checked before a replacement board is priced.

How it works

Check the circuits first

  1. 01

Check the existing board, circuits and supply arrangements.

  2. 02

Specify the board and explain any remedial work before agreeing a price.

  3. 03

Arrange the power shutdown and complete the replacement.

  4. 04

Test the installation, label the circuits and explain the controls.

FAQs

Why does that switch trip?

Does a new board fix every electrical problem?

No. Existing wiring faults still need to be found and put right. Initial checks help identify issues before the replacement is agreed.

What does an RCD do?

An RCD can disconnect a circuit when it detects current leaking along an unintended path. It provides additional protection against electric shock; it does not remove every electrical risk.

Will the power need to be off?

Yes. The shutdown is planned before work begins. Tell us about equipment that must stay powered so appropriate arrangements can be discussed.

Do I get a certificate?

The agreed work includes the appropriate electrical installation documentation and any required building-regulations notification. The handover explains what each document covers.
