The story
Wood, when the windows darken
The last person has left the table, but a little warmth remains in the room. A window stands open. Beyond it, the trees have become shapes against the sky. A chair scrapes softly across the floor, then the room is still.
Bois de Minuit begins with black pepper, a small disturbance in that stillness. Cedarwood follows, bringing the dry, familiar grain of a table worn smooth by use. Smoked vetiver settles underneath, earthy and spare.
The scene rests between the warmth of the afternoon and the cooler air outside. There is wood beneath your hands and a faint trace of smoke caught in a sleeve. Let the darkness come gradually. There is enough light left to see the way back.
