Ambre Sel
Eau de parfum · Amber
Salt dries on warm skin after the sea. The first brightness gives way to labdanum, dark and resinous. Amber gathers slowly around it, while driftwood keeps the edges dry. A little of the shore follows you into the evening light.

The story
Amber, after the tide turns
The tide has gone out and the stones are warm enough to sit on. There is salt on your sleeve and a length of driftwood above the waterline. The sky is beginning to lose its blue.
Ambre Sel takes its shape from that late hour. Sea salt gives the opening a dry brightness. Labdanum deepens it, bringing a resinous warmth that feels closer to the skin than to the water. Amber holds the last of the light; driftwood leaves a weathered edge.
It is a shore remembered from indoors. A window is open somewhere behind you. The air has cooled, but the warmth of the afternoon is still caught in the cloth of your shirt.

I expected something sweeter from the name. The salt and dry wood make it much more interesting. It has the warmth I wanted without a syrupy feel.

Warm stone and salt is what came to mind straight away. The amber feels softer later on. A lovely one for an evening with the windows open.

The dry wood is my favourite part. There is a salty edge at the start, but it never turns into the usual sharp, watery sort of scent.
